The Strangest Thing Happened

*(*The Strangest Thing Happened*)*

Years ago, in a former house that my family had lived in, there was poltergeist activity in the house behind ours.

Apparently, the story has it, there was this couple and a baby living in the house behind ours. One night, the parents were in the living room watching TV on the sofa and the baby was upstairs sleeping in the cot.

At some point during the evening, the parents were alarmed to hear the baby crying through the baby monitor.

So, of course, the parents went running upstairs to tend to the baby, only to find that the baby was fast asleep and was not crying, yet, they clearly heard crying on the baby monitor only moments before.

The strangest part of this story was a few years later.

Apparently, one day, the young child was playing in the bathtub with a little red boat toy. Apparently, the parents were forewarned not to let a child play with a red boat in the bathtub, but, of course, the parents didn't think anything of it.

Then, the strangest thing happened. Apparently, the decorative china dishes on the wall downstairs were spinning by themselves and objects were being levitated and thrown across the rooms.

This terrified the parents, so they called in a priest to perform an Exorcism. The Exorcism was successful in ridding of the entity.

However, the parents never found out why the red boat in the bathtub triggered such an event.

Weird Encounters With Shane

*ROCKING OUT WITH THE WEIRD*

I had a brief encounter in my living room.

I was sitting on the sofa listening to Pantera on volume 12, when, out of nowhere, the CD player turned up to full volume all by itself.

The remote control was on the sofa arm and nobody had touched it.

------------------------------

~FOOTSTEPS~

Also, in the same house, I was again sitting on the sofa. It was just me and my dog.

The next thing, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and then my dog got up and just stared at the bottom of the stairs, like somebody or something was there.

There was no-one else in the house.

The Old Woman In My Bedroom

**"The Old Woman In My Bedroom"**

The first paranormal experience I can remember is when I was about 10 years old. I used to witness a full apparition of an old woman with her pet cats sitting on the bottom of my bed in my bedroom.

My brother even witnessed the ghostly lady once for himself, when he walked past my room late one night. She would appear most nights, however she didn't harm me at all.

I later found out that, when my family had moved out of that house, the lady spirit I had been witnessing in my room, was in fact a former resident of the house and she did used to keep pets when she lived there.

Even the family that moved in after us, later said that their son was in my former bedroom and had experienced the same thing.

A Haunted Mother

~*A Haunted Mother*~
*More Experiences From Rachel Livingston's Mother*

(Above: Holly Federle - Photo Taken and Edited By: Rachel Aleta Livingston)

-------------------------

 ~FATHER? IS THAT YOU?

-----------------------

I have had several experiences with hauntings.......one of which was my Father.

My Father left when I was 4 years old...he was not a nice person at that time, and treated my Mother horribly, which is why they parted.  I can still vividly remember him and taking him to the bus stop. Which was the last time I saw him in my childhood
I didn't understand it at the time of course, but I heard nothing from him, until my younger brother, as an adult, went in search of him and found him in California. We went to see him, prompting shortly a brief visit from him when I was 29 and my daughter was 1. As can be expected, I had very ambivalent feelings about him.
He only stayed a few days and went back to California. Soon after that he passed away from cancer. At the time of the visit, I didn't even know he was sick

Shortly after he passed I started to have odd experiences that really scared me. I would suddenly awaken thinking my daughter was standing by my bed, only to see nothing
I was always feeling that I was being watched
Our cat at the time would do strange things like walk back and forth on the top of the recliner meowing at the ceiling. I always had the feeling that he was hanging around

When we moved to another house, I was lying down just to rest (I had mono at the time) but was not in anyway asleep.
Suddenly, I felt and SAW the end of the bed and cover indent as if someone was sitting at the end of the bed.
In this house, I kept smelling what smelled like decaying flesh. At first I thought if it was a mouse or something, that had died in the wallThe thing was, I was the only one who could smell it. These experiences seemed to happen more in my bedroom at the time, so I never slept in that bed again.....

I started sleeping on the couch, and did so the rest of the time we were in that house.
I always felt I was being watched, and felt a presence...it didn't feel good either....
I was scared. My daughter was young at the time but was also having odd experiences

Then when we moved again...I got the guts to confront whatever it was that kept following me around.
I told whatever it was, my father or not, but I told it to move on and go to the light and to the other side..

I used Holy Water, cleansed my home with sage, and prayed for whatever it was and asked for God's protection
I never had any other odd experiences like that after that time
My home finally felt like home.

 *------------------------------------

*ANOTHER  HAUNTING EXPERIENCE*

-----------------------

Another haunting experience I had was when I was married.
We lived in a house that I really liked, but learned to live with something, that basically was unique to that house.
Our bedroom was always cold...summer, winter...it didn't matter. We couldn't regulate the temperature in that room.
I always felt like there was something with us, but it didn't feel threatening. I think it was just a home bound ghost

If friends came over and stayed late, they were always greeted with loud banging noises coming from the basement. Many were frightened, but we just explained, that it was just something that happened every night.

We often heard footsteps...things would turn up missing, only to find them in odd places.

Once I had my sewing machine hooked up, and stepped away to talk to my husband at that time.  Suddenly, the sewing machine began sewing all by itself.
We just looked at each other and shrugged it off, as one more odd thing that happened in that house

Every time, we tried to go somewhere, the basement would back up with sewage water...every time.
Like it didn't want us to leave.
Light bulbs would burst, for no apparent reason,
especially when I passed them, sending glass flying everywhere.

We learned to live with whatever was in the house, and when we moved, the experiences stopped, which is why I think it was only a home bound spirit.

I have lived my life experiencing odd occurrences, and because of my upbringing with a family that had many paranormal experiences...nothing surprises me. I know there are things out there beyond what we can see/hear with our 5 senses.
 Something IS out there...
believe it or not

HAUNTED AND POSSESSED OBJECTS

~HAUNTED AND POSSESSED OBJECTS!~
AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!

(Above: Annabelle the Doll)

Have you ever had an object that seemed to have had a mind of it's own? Did it disappear and reappear in a different spot? Did it give off a "bad vibe"? Were there strange noises coming from it? Maybe your object was, indeed, possessed!!!  Who knows?! I have always found the topic of "Haunted and Possessed Objects" very interesting. When I was a kid, I had this four foot barbie doll that I got one year for Christmas. And I swear it's head would turn at night. Haha, maybe it was just my imagination, being a little kid and all. But still, this subject is very interesting. Here is some information about "Haunted and Possessed Objects"...

-----------------------

WHAT ARE "HAUNTED/POSSESSED OBJECTS"?

Quote:
"Description : inanimate objects that move, make noise or change shape.  Sometimes a particular piece of furniture will refuse to change place, even moving in front of the owner's eyes. Other notorious haunted objects are the various means of transport ; phantom ships, ghost trains that rumble through the night on their old runs, even if the railway line has been removed."

Quote:
"Can a seemingly harmless and inanimate object such as an old doll, watch or piece of furniture contain the psychic energy of its previous owners? Can everyday objects be haunted? In a recent visit to Ebay I happened to find several supposedly haunted items being sold. Everything from old tools and photographs to dolls and jewellery, all of it purportedly haunted. There was even a haunted mansion for sale in Colorado. It seems that there is no shortage of haunted, cursed and generally spooky stuff for sale these days. But do these so-called "haunted" or "cursed" objects really possess the energy of the dead?"
"Some objects are said to be cursed, other seem to be animated by spirits. Other notoriously haunted objects are vehicle; phantom ships, ghost trains that steam through the night air on their old runs, even if the railway line has been long removed. Some famously haunted objects have fascinated the public consciousness for years. We have all heard about The Hope Diamond, the Flying Dutchman and King Tuts tomb, all of which are reportedly cursed or haunted items, which many feel retain the essence of long dead souls."

Quote:
"Haunted objects or not a common as haunted houses or land, but there have been many stories told about objects that have a spirit attached to them. Some people believe that only antiques can be possessed by a spirit, but newer objects can also be haunted. Antiques have been in existence for a longer period of time, and have probably had more owners, so they have a higher chance of possession. Newer objects haven’t had as many owners and have less chance of being haunted. Items that have been reported as possessed include; paintings, furniture, dolls, tins, tools, photos, and jewelry."

Quote:
"We know that locations can be haunted, and hold residual energy from the past.Haunted objects can also do exactly the same thing. It can be a piece of antique jewelery furniture, mirrors, pianos, books and even recycled building materials. Often taken from old abandoned buildings, the material has now become very popular with some new construction of homes. Almost anything can have a spirit attachment, good or bad."
"Typically the haunting will start when the object is brought into a home, a ghost may be witnessed lurking close to the object, it can also seem to have a life of its own.such as a piano that plays by itself,or a mirror that reflects an apparition,or ghostly mist.Sometimes the object will bring streaks of bad luck to the home or family. Just as a haunting at a property, the reasons for a haunted object are many and vary. As a scientific paranormal team, we like to have historical data to backup, all our findings, we find it sometimes difficult, to find answers, for haunted objects. Unless of course the object has been with someone who was important to history, not much is recorded on antiques, that have been in the possession of ordinary people."

WHAT ARE SOME "HAUNTED/POSSESSED OBJECTS" THEORIES?

Quote:
"Theory : Some objects are said to be cursed, other would be animated by spirits. Regarded haunted houses, some claims that the former inhabitants are still attached to what belonged to them in their former life on earth. So if a human ghost is not friendly towards you, perhaps it is because you changed something in their house like the carpet in their favorite room or something else that will change and alter the things that belonged to them in life."

 http://ghosts.monstrous.com/possessed_objects.htm

Quote:
"One theory of how an object can become possessed by a deceased person is that people human thoughts and emotions contain energy that is absorbed in to the objects that are near us. The items keep the energy that they absorb. It is said that when the bond between the person and the object is strong, the object will have a larger chance of showing ghostlike behaviors. If the previous owner was giving off bad energy to the objects around him, there may be negative energies associated with the object. The hauntings may be scary and/or violent. Many times if there were no negative energies absorbed by the object, the hauntings are friendlier."

HERE IS A RANDOM, NEAT, AND INTERESTING HAUNTED/POSSESSED OBJECT SOURCE

Quote:
"Over the years I have been told stories of belongings that seem to be haunted. Most of these items were pre-owned or antique and acquired through thrift stores, antique shops, yard sales, family hand downs, etc. I began to ask why. During my research into haunted object claims I found some interesting facts that may explain the reasons for haunted item cases...."

HAUNTED/POSSESSED OBJECT EXAMPLE:

~ANNABELLE THE DOLL!!!~
(Above: Annabelle the Doll)

Quote:
"In the 1970's, a mother strolling along the street walked into a hobby store, and purchased a large Raggedy-Anne doll as a present for her daughter's birthday. Recently moved away to college, living away from home wasn't easy and Donna loved the little doll. Every morning she placed AnnaBelle on her bed after making it. But Annabelle didn't stay in bed for very long."

Quote:
"The disturbance began in the home when the girls discovered a piece of chocolate candy mysteriously left on the stereo in the living room. None of the tenants had bought chocolate, and they were perplexed as to how it had gotten there. Strange messages were found written in a child's handwriting scrawled on paper. Objects were often moved about the home, never being found where they had originally been left. It seemed as if somebody... or something was sharing the house with the frightened tenants. After a month of unusual occurrences the girls decided that they needed help. They investigated the history of the property, and also contacted a local medium. They discovered that before the apartments had been built on the land, a young girl named 'AnnaBelle' had died on the property. AnnaBelle used to love playing in the field... they were happy times for her, and her spirit had never left. The medium explained that little AnnaBelle's spirit was still there, and responsible for the occurrences in the Home. AnnaBelle asked if she could stay with them, by moving into the doll that Donna's mom had bought for her birthday. Not knowing what else to do, the girls said yes, and eventually even renamed the doll AnnaBelle."

Quote:
"In 1970 a mother purchased an antique Raggedy Ann Doll from a hobby store. The doll was a present for her daughter Donna on her birthday. Donna, at the time, was a student in college, preparing to graduate with her nursing degree and resided in a tiny apartment with her room mate Anngie (a nurse as well). Pleased with the doll Donna placed it on her bed as a decoration and didn't give it a second thought until a few days later. With in that time both Donna and Angie noticed that there appeared to be something very strange and creepy about the doll. The doll apparently moved on its own, relatively unnoticeable movements at first, like a change in position, but as time passed the movement became more noticeable. Donna and Angie would come home to find the doll in a completely different room from which they had left it . Sometimes the doll would be found crossed legged on the couch with its arms folded , other times it was found upright, standing on its feet, leaning against a chair in the dining room. Several times Donna, placing the doll on the couch before leaving for work, would return home to find the doll back in her room on the bed with the door closed."

Quote:
"One night Donna came home to find the doll had moved again, this time it was on her bed. Donna had come to find that this was typical of the doll but some how she knew this time it was different, something wasn't right. A sense of fear came over her when she inspected the doll and saw what looked like blood drops on the back of its hands and its chest. Seemingly, from no where, a liquidy red substance had appeared on the doll. Scared and desperate Donna and Angie decide it was time to seek expert advice."

Quote:
"Lou scoured the room for forced entry but nothing was out of place. But as he got close to the doll he got the distinct impression that somebody was behind him. Spinning around he was quick to realize that nobody else was there. Then in flash he found himself grabbing for his chest, doubled over, cut and bleeding. His shirt was stained with blood and upon opening his shirt there on his chest was what looked to be 7 distinct claw marks, three vertically and four horizontally, all were hot like burns. These scratches healed almost immediately, half gone the next day, fully gone by day two."

Quote:
"The spirit or in this case an inhuman demonic spirit, was essentially in the infestation stage of the phenomenon. It first began moving the doll around the apartment by means of teleportation to arouse the occupants curiosity in hopes that they would give it recognition. Then predictably the mistake of bringing a medium into the apartment to communicate with it. The inhuman spirit now able to communicate through the medium, preyed on the girls emotional vulnerabilities by pretending to be a rather harmless, lost young girl with which during the seance, was allowed permission from Donna to haunt the apartment. Insofar as demonic is a negative spirit, it then set about causing patently negative phenomena to occur; it aroused fear through the weird movements of that doll, it brought about the materialization of disturbing handwritten notes, the symbolic drops of blood on the doll, and ultimately it even attacked Lou leaving behind the symbolic mark of the beast. The next stage of the infestation phenomenon would have been complete human possession. Had these experiences lasted another 2 or 3 more weeks the spirit would have completely possessed, if not harmed or killed one or all of the occupants in the house. "

More Interesting Haunted Places

HERE ARE SOME MORE INTERESTING HAUNTED PLACES.

--------------------------

The Myrtles Plantation

Quote:
"Built in 1796 by General David Bradford, this stately old home on Myrtles Plantation is said to be haunted be several restless ghosts. Some researchers say as many as ten murders have been committed there, but others, such as Troy Taylor and David Wisehart, have only been able to confirm one murder at Myrtles."
Quote:
"Cleo – a former slave who was allegedly hung on the premises for killing two little girls. (Those murders and even the existence of Cleo are in question.)"
"The ghosts of the two murdered children have been seen playing on the veranda."
"William Drew Winter – an attorney who lived at Myrtles from 1860 to 1871. He was shot on the side porch of the house by a stranger. With his life's blood pouring from his body, Winter staggered into the house and began to climb the stairs to the second floor... but didn't make it. He collapsed and died on the 17th step. It is his last dying footsteps that can still be heard on the staircase to this day. (Winter's murder is the only one that has been verified.)"
"The ghosts of other slaves allegedly occasionally show up to ask if they can do any chores. The grand piano has often been heard to play by itself, repeating one haunting chord."

Alcatraz National Park

Quote:
"Alcatraz was used as a prison from 1850 - 1963. Actually, it was sort of used as a prison even before the military started using it in 1850...Native American tribes used it as a prison (or isolation place) to punish tribe members who violated the tribal laws. Alcatraz has a very haunted history. Some say that the Native Americans avoided the island because it contained "evil spirits". I'm sure that bad, law breaking tribe members who were sent there started this legend."
Quote:
"Today many visitors and park reangers experience cell doors opening and closing, loud footsteps, clanking metal, loud crashing sounds, terrible screams, horrible smells, mysterious smoke/fog, sobbing, and intense feelings of being watched. Also, several apparitions have been seen. The most haunted locations on Alcatraz are the Warden’s house, the hospital, the laundry room, and the cell block ‘C’ utility door where convicts Coy, Cretzer and Hubbard died during their bloody escape attempt in 1946. However, the most haunted area of Alcatraz is the ‘D’ cell block, where prisoners were punished by solitary confinement. This area is also referred to as "The Hole"."

The Bell Witch

Quote:
"The haunting began in 1817 when the Bell family began experiencing strange phenomena in their home. First, the house was plagued with knocking and rapping noises and scratching sounds. Blankets were pulled from beds, family members were kicked and scratched and their hair pulled. Particularly tormented was young Elizabeth Bell, who was slapped, pinched, bruised and stuck with pins. At first, John Bell was determined to keep the events secret, but soon confided in a friend, who then formed an investigative committee. John Bell's friends soon learned that the strange force in the house had an eerie intelligence. It soon found a voice and from that day on was seldom silent".

The Lincoln Theater

Quote:

"Stories have circulated about hauntings at the Lincoln Theater since at least the 1930's. Reports by witnesses from those early days of film in the theater have suggested that as least one ghost haunts the building. However, in more recent times, the numerous encounters here have led many to believe that a multitude of spirits may linger in the Lincoln."
Quote:
"Over the years, dozens of witnesses have reported strange sounds and footsteps in the otherwise empty theater and these are sounds that cannot be explained away as simply the theater's acoustics. They have also reported whispers, strange voices and even a shadowy apparition in the theater's balcony. However, this strange figure is not described as looking like Red, but rather as a woman in a long, old-fashioned dress! This is only one of the many reports that cause some to believe there are a number of ghosts in the building. Several other witnesses have reported their own brushes with hazy forms and figures seen out of the corner of the eye ---- and none of these descriptions match! Could there be a legion of phantoms left behind in the theater?"
"In addition to visual sightings, there have been a number of other encounters as well, including the aforementioned footsteps and sounds. Many have experienced inexplicable cold chills in certain spots in the building and others claim to have been touched by unseen hands. Several others have mentioned seeing theater seats in the auditorium actually raise and lower by themselves, as if an unseen audience was watching the proceedings on the stage."

Bobby Mackey's Music World

Quote:
"Apparently, a small satanic group made up of local residents gathered at the empty building, managing to practice their rituals in secret. However, they were exposed in 1896 during one of the most spectacular murder trials ever held in northeast Kentucky. It was so large that tickets were sold to the hearing and more than 5,000 people stood outside the Newport, Kentucky courthouse for information about what was taking place inside. The trial, and the murder that spawned it, has become an integral part of Bobby Mackey’s haunted history. Finally, the building was turned into the popular bar and dance club that it is today."
Quote:
"Pearl’s body was found about two hundred feet off the Alexandria Turnpike and less than two miles from the abandoned slaughterhouse. As her head was nowhere to be found, Pearl was identified by her shoes. They bore the imprint of Louis and Hays, a Greencastle shoe company that was able to confirm that they had been sold to Pearl Bryan. During the trial that followed, Walling testified that it had been Jackson’s idea to cut Pearl up and distribute her body in the Cincinnati sewers. Only the head was taken, for which Jackson apparently had other uses. Pearl’s luxurious blond hair was later found in a valise in Jackson’s room."
"Pearl’s head was never found and legend has it that it was used during a satanic ritual at the slaughterhouse. It was then dumped into the well of blood and was lost. Jackson and Walling were brought to trial in 1897 and were quickly found guilty and sentenced to death. William Wood was later arrested and charged as an accomplice. Charges against him were dropped when he agreed to testify against the other two men. According to reports, Jackson and Walling were both offered life sentences instead of execution if they would reveal the location of Pearl’s head. Both men refused. They went to the gallows behind the courthouse in Newport on March 21, 1897. It was the last public hanging in Campbell County."
Quote:
" Finally, the building was turned into the popular bar and dance club that it is today. Bobby and Janet Mackey purchased the building in the spring of 1978 with the intention of turning it into a country bar. Mackey was a well-known as a singer in northern Kentucky and had recorded several albums. He actually scrapped his plans to record in Nashville in order to renovate the old tavern. Once the bar was opened up, it immediately began to attract a crowd."

Quote:

"Soon, other employees and patrons of the place began to have their own weird experiences. They began to tell of objects that moved around on their own, lights that turned on an off, disembodied voices and laughter and more. Bobby Mackey was not happy about the ghostly rumors that were starting to spread around town. "Carl starting telling stories and I told him to keep quiet about it. I didn’t want it getting around, because I had everything I own stuck in this place. I had to make a success of it," he said. He was not one to believe in ghosts or the supernatural and he didn’t want his customers believing in it either. But when Janet Mackey revealed that she too had encountered the resident spirits, Mackey was no longer sure what to think!"

Quote:

"He continued to collect stories and sightings, intrigued by the various spirits who had been seen, including a headless ghost who was dressed in turn-of-the-century clothing. Strangely, independent witnesses provided matching descriptions of the phantom, never knowing that she had been seen by others. That was when Hensley turned to historic records to shed some light on the building’s past. He was stunned to discover that events of the past were closely connected to the hauntings of the present. In old newspaper accounts, he found the story of Pearl Bryan and photos of Buck Brady that matched the description of an often seen ghost. None of the witnesses to the present-day paranormal activity were even vaguely aware of who these people had been or what connections they had to the building!"

Quote:

"Bobby Mackey’s Music World remains perhaps one of the strangest haunted sites in the Midwest and one that has proven to be a major attraction for ghost hunters and enthusiasts alike. Few go away disappointed from a tavern where "spirits served" has another meaning altogether!"

The Lemp Mansion

Quote:
"After the death of Charles Lemp, the mansion was sold and turned into a boarding house. Shortly after that, it fell on hard times and began to deteriorate, along with the nearby neighborhood. In later years, stories began to emerge that residents of the boarding house often complained of ghostly knocks and phantom footsteps in the house. As these tales spread, it became increasingly hard to find tenants to occupy the rooms and because of this, the old Lemp Mansion was rarely filled."
"The decline of the house continued until 1975, when Dick Pointer and his family purchased it. The Pointer's began remodeling and renovating the place, working for many years to turn it into a restaurant and an inn. But the Pointer's were soon to find out that they were not alone in the house..".
"The bulk of the remodeling was done in the 1970s and during this time, workers reported strange things happening in the house, leading many to believe the place was haunted. Reports often varied between feelings of being watched, vanishing tools and strange sounds. Many of the workers actually left the job site and never came back."
"Since the restaurant has opened, staff members also have had their own odd experiences. Glasses have been seen to lift off the bar and fly through the air; sounds are often heard that do not have explanation and some have even glimpsed actual apparitions who appear and vanish at will. In addition, many customers and visitors to the house report some pretty weird incidents. It is said that doors lock and unlock on their own; the piano in the bar plays by itself; voices and sounds come from nowhere; and even the spirit of the "Lavender Lady" has been spotted on occasion."
"The house has also attracted ghost hunters from around the country, who have come partly due to a November 1980 LIFE magazine article, which named the Lemp Mansion as "one of the most haunted houses in America". It remains a popular place for dinner and spirits today."
"The current owner of the house, Paul Pointer, maintains the place as a wonderful eating and lodging establishment and takes the ghosts as just another part of the strange mansion. "People come here expecting to experience weird things," he said, " and fortunately for us, they are rarely disappointed.""
